The North Coast Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary invites you to our 13th annual event, Riviera Nights,
(previously known as Date Night for a Cause) at the beautiful Flower Fields in Carlsbad, California. Approximately 300 guests will come together to enjoy an evening of Cote d' Azur glamour. There will be live music, cabaret dancers, gourmet food, opportunities to bid on fantastic live auction items, as well as silent auction and opportunity drawings. Join us to make a difference in a child’s life. Net proceeds will benefit the Rady Children’s Hospital Child Life Services department.

WHAT IS CHILD LIFE SERVICES?
Every day at RCHSD, child life specialists ensure that kids facing medical challenges are met with comfort, understanding and opportunities to cope and heal. We transform the hospital experience by reducing fear, building resilience, and supporting the entire family through some of their most stressful moments.
Based on the child’s individual needs and developmental level, child life specialists can provide:
- Psychological preparation for surgery, procedures and medical tests
- Pre-operative tours and education to help patients and siblings understand and cope with upcoming medical events.
- Emotional support and coping techniques, such as relaxation, diversion and deep breathing.
- Medical and therapeutic play to help patients become more familiar with medical equipment and procedures and encourage expression of feelings.
- Activity Room programming to promote healing, creativity, peer interaction, and independence, all which are all vital to normal growth and development.
- School visits or consultations to promote classmates’ understanding of illness and healthcare.
- Resources on child development.

- Therapeutic Play and Coping From medical play dolls to sensory items, art supplies, and adaptive toys- these resources help children express emotions, understand their care, and feel safe and empowered.
- Preparation and Education Philanthropy allows us to create tailored teaching tools, preparation books, and hands-on demonstrations that ease anxiety, increase knowledge, and help kids approach procedures with confidence instead of fear.
- Normalization Support helps us run our activity rooms, bedside play programming, and creative arts opportunities- spaces that allow kids to laugh, create, socialize, and maintain a sense of control during hospitalizations.
- Sibling and Family Support Donations help child life specialists meet the needs of the whole family by offering sibling activities, educational resources, emotional support and guidance during difficult moments.
- Special Events and Milestone Celebrations Whether it's celebrating a birthday in the hospital, marking treatment milestones, or creating holiday magic, philanthropy brings joy and memory-making to children and families who need it most.
